Sacramento’s South Asian presence expanded in the 1980s and 1990s, with major growth over the last 25–30 years. Elk Grove and South Sacramento became centers for Indian, Pakistani, Nepali, and Sikh communities, supported by temples, gurdwaras, restaurants, and specialty markets.
